I still have my Raspberry Pi’s, thinking of just loading raspian, or what do you folks think?

We had someone test with Raspian and it seemed to work with no issues so far.
Unfortunately, we haven’t had too much time to test which OSs are supported and will work, so feel free to try on any raspberry OS with an included web browser and report back.
It’s on our roadmap for the future to make a custom Pi image to help simply the workflow for EPs, but in the meantime there might be some OS that are meant for digital signage that would work well.

Our venue depends on Raspberry Pi pretty much everywhere - two windows computers run the event when we run simultaneous events (IQ, V5, College, different grade levels). All computers on the network must be provided by the district (hence the move to rPis and district iPads for scoring… in the past.)
When developing your roadmap, do check in with different school IT departments and check to make sure you assumptions are correct.
It is going to be an interesting season to be sure.

I got Raspbian to work, just gotta find a way to make it the browser full screen so it looks like a display vs a browser window haha, still learning Linux, I’m on a mac all day but never thought to learn Linux more.

If you’re using Chromium (the default browser that comes with Raspbian) you can do that the same way as Chrome on macOS or Windows: hit F11 on the keyboard or pick the fullscreen item from the menu in the top-right.

I didnt get a chance to look around I was rushing out the door after I was finished haha. I’ll check again when I get back to those computers on Monday.
Do you guys use the raspbian version of remote desktop to access them remotely? Trying to find the best way to do it for full setup.

That is what we did last season, for the web-based setup that ADC used. It was okay; we’re still on the Pi 3 and trying to do anything over a Remote Desktop connection is pretty painful. But once we got the page full-screened and ended the Remote Desktop session, the displays themselves worked fine.
I’d like to look into some sort of digital signage OS that would (presumably) make remote management easier, but haven’t had a chance to yet. I’ve used PiSignage for other projects before, but the free tier only supports 2 devices, which isn’t enough for us.

From my experience last year using ADC’s platform, I plan to use windows laptops that are remotely managed with Veyon. This setup worked well during the competition with no hiccups. Veyon allows me to monitor all laptops in real time and simply click on them to remote in. This is similar to Apple ARD, but works with Windows and Linux.
I am exploring the possibility of using Pi’s with Ubuntu installed since you can install Veyon on that distro. My issue is that I have Pi 3’s and I’m not sure how well Ubuntu will run on them.
