Has anyone figured out a good way to power tetrix max wheels with the vex v5 motors? Or any ideas.
This sounds like a problem of having adaptors between Tetrix wheels and V5 Shafts. There are different approaches, including creating 3D printed adapters as interface between two systems.
Thoughts?
I do like that idea. How would one go about finding the cads for tetrix stuff?
Welp, I would go to google and ask “tetrix wheel to 1/4 square shaft adapter”
and then maybe some approaches will appear.
Will they work? Not sure, but maybe a good starting point as it asks the essential problem statement. There are missing elements - such as what material to use for 3D printing solution.
You know - student-centered!
Good luck this season!
Thank you so much
, I didn’t think about putting in the size of an axel.
You know, criteria and constraints
If you are cutting metal structure - you will need to choose 1/8" or 1/4" shaft dimensions.
Double check everything I say
Although I am more right than wrong, I have not built or coded robots since Student-Centered policy came out.
Have fun, learn lots!
Not for Tetrix, but for Robits, it seems AndyMark will be manufacturing 1/8" & 1/4" square to 3/8" hex adapters to work with their Robits products
That is such an awesome resource! Thanks so much!
AndyMark has 3D models for those adapters, so you can 3D print your own.
Is there a big difference in using other wheels vs vex wheels? I just assumed they have the same limitations.
The other wheels that you can use have circular holes for the axles rather than square ones.
The other things with the Robits/Tetrix Max wheels that you may not find in VEX is that
- I’ve heard the AndyMark mecanum wheels perform better than VEX mecanums for drivetrains (not confirmed)
- You have access to different diameter wheels with different packaging widths, which may be more beneficial depending on the design
- While they are not wheels, there are these Compliant Stars which may be good for intakes as well
